Soujouk / Spiced beef

 

Ingredients:

- 1kg (2lb) lean ground beef

- 2 tablespoons mashed garlic 

- 2 tablespoons red pepper paste (hot or mild)

- 1 tablespoon ground cumin 

- 1/2 tablespoon Aleppo pepper 

- 1 tablespoon seven spices 

- 1/2 teaspoon Fenugreek (حِلبة)

- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar 

- 1 tablespoon salt

- cooking spray

To make the soujouk sandwiches:

- Arabic braid, pita 

- tanour bread

- your choice of baguette, submarine, and round bread

Directions:

- In a medium bowl, combine the beef, spices and vinegar. Mix well by hand. Cover and keep it overnight in the fridge.

- Mix well, then apply the mixture on the bread. Place the bread on a baking sheet, spray it with the cooking spray. 

- Bake in a preheated oven on 350 degree for 15 minutes.

Tip: freeze the soujouk mix in a ziplock for up to 3 months. Defrost by in the fridge overnight.
